Well as I was waiting for our plane to arrive, I snapped a few. Wish they were a bit clearer but I was shooting through the glass!

Are these prints?
No Craig, they look it though, don't they? They were shot with my old Olympus Digi through the glass of the terminal windows and aircraft windows. I guess the double pane gives it a "weird" effect.

am getting homesick... and to think the today I would have been there, except my plans changed...

My first memories are of watching the airplanes from the viewing gallery/balcony.  I still remember one of Eastern Air Line's Connies from it's "Great Silver Fleet" taking off, as well as a Pan Am (old colors) DC-6 passengers loading up.

Later on, the airport was full of Prinair DH Herons (at that time, the largest regional airline in the world, and the airline that used probably half the Heron population (or so it seemed) that would later be changed out for CASA 212s...

Felix, even though you had all the knowledge of Puerto Rico, I did not know that you actually lived there!
I had a feeling but never asked!
I hope you did not live in one of those cement boxes with the fires burning outside and the "Condom World" store as your neighbor!  :o

Nothing wrong with the "thru the glass" look, esp. the "pushback" one- I think the joints in the glass really add some composition to that one. Very interesting. And they all wound up with an interesting filter effect.

I live in PR and did you know that they are gonna close down one of the runways.
no general aviation aircraft will be able to land in san juan INTL for security reasons.

can you imagine you having to wait in a 747 on route to japan just because a cessna 172 has engine trouble in the middle of the taxiway? :(

anyways, great shots. ;D

What a revolting development....  My one (and only) GA flight out of SJU was in a Mooney belonging to then Prinair president/owner.  We took off, refueled at Isla Grande, then popped over to Arecibo.  After a while, back to SJU...

You do feel quite small when landing at SJU in a small single-engine job.

PS - Is it true that they're planning to close down Isla Grande?

I was amazed to see all the various types of GA there!
There was this one section that had about 7 to 8 DC-3's parked outside. They were all in operation as I saw a few take off. I also had one fly right over me while I was laying on the beach!  :o
