All cars are like that these days. Much safer, just too bad that happens at low speeds.

Well, it looks like the driver/passenger area held up all right; same with the Dodge. Vehicles are definitely engineered now to sacrifice the front end in this sort of crash, to dissipate the energy. I will agree , though, that a lot of people seem to buy these behemoths with the mistaken idea that they will simply roll over or crush anything they happen to hit. Kind of a stupid notion of road safety, if you ask me...
I'd love to take a rally-equipped Hummer on a desert run sometime, but I just don't get driving them in the street. Just a silly status symbol, IMHO.

If you want tough get a Series I or II Land Rover ;)
The only vehicle that is squaddie-proof ;D
