The third is very clever - a composite of the Air Canada 747 and the old 747 blown up by the boffins at Bruntingthorpe to test baggage containers...

edit. It's also convincing enough to have encouraged posts on the internet asking for info on the break up of an Air Canada 747 on landing... ;D

The problem with that 747 gunship is that it's defensless on it's starboard side. :P ;D

It wouldn't be the first of its kind though.  The AC-47's (sometimes known as "Spooky" or "Puff the Magic Dragon") saw a lot of action and was pretty successiful.  Since then, the AC-119s and AC-130s have all been the same, heavily armed on one side, and used for infrantry support.

I asked my father about the AC-47 and he told me that he saw a number of them when he was in Vietnam and that they were highly effective as a ground attack aircraft.  They would make a run parrell to the enemy (or circle-can't remember exactly) and use the mini-guns positioned on the one side to inflict a fair amount of damage.

nope. looks like a quick and easy edit on photoshop to me. it looks like it would be pretty much impossible as well. check out the heat behind the engine. i guess that would be quite a different sight if it was really halfway underwater as it is in that edit ;).

but number 3 is awesome! that's some editing skills :o
