Testing the new scanner...few old aircraft photos

Postby Triple_7 » Sun Mar 20, 2005 12:14 am

Last weekend we finaly bought a new Lexmark printer and scanner.  Finaly got around to testing it out tonight.  I found a few photos from my trip to Florida back in 98 and trip to North Carolina in 99.

Continental Beech 1900...My very first flight ever was on this bird from Fort Wayne to Cleveland.  Taken early morning on July 1st of 98 about 15 mins before boarding.  We were supposed to be on Northwest to Detroit but due to weather there they switched us to Continental and we headed for Fort Myers via Cleveland insted.

Northwest Saab 340.  Taken after we arrived back to FWA on the evening of July 9th.  Flew from Fort Myers to Detroit on a 727.  Can not find any pics though.

Family reunion in North Carolina 1999.  A cousin who was stationed at Seymour Johnson took me and another cousin out on the flight line.  Here is a view of about 20 F-15s as well as a few noses on the other side.

Facing away from the lineup here is a closer look at a couple more.  A few minutes before i was acualy sitting on top of the engine of the right one..... Ah the memories of that day.  Now its probably impossible to get a personal tour of one of them unless its at an airshow:-/

Nice shots. If you mess with your scanners settings you can get better quality. I usually go with 300 DPI and allow the scanners program free reign over sharpening.

Fun stuff, but yes, go with 300dpi if you aren't already... well worth the slightly higher raw file size. Whatever quality an old print has will blossom at the higher settings...

Thanks... :)

Those were scanned at 300dpi.  But im in the process of fine tunning it and that was some of the first to be scanned.

Just finished scanning the 1st and 3rd one at 1200dpi and have put them before the Anet screeners.  The origional photos are not all that clear to start with sence they were taken with a cheap disposible cammera what seems like so many years ago :-[  I know the Anet screenings are nearly impossible to pass due to some of the dumbest reasons, but these photos are somewhat different...i did searches...#1 only has 4 other photos of a Continental Beech 1900 at FWA and only 1 of those is in this color scheme....as for #3 it is the only shot of the flightline at Seymour Johnson i could find....so we will see what dumb reasons they can come up with for these ::)

If you have Photoshop sharpen them that way, you can do a better job then the scanner... 8)
