Y'know, I think the problem people seem to have  with that Me109 is that the paint is not very "drab", really; kind of a "satin" finish. Or maybe it's that color; hard to tell.  Not saying it's not period-correct, but it does seem "too shiny" compared to most non-metallic-finish warbirds.. It's also probably heavily restored; all the various skin panels are straight and smooth, no "oil-canning"  or various-aged panels like on the belly of that old bomber (sorry, guys, I can't ID it- Lanc?). That's what gives it the "plastic" look, I guess. Up close, it probably looks real enough- I'd like to go see it sometime. Too bad I'll most likely never see it fly...

I think the colours are pretty accurate. Most warbirds don't have their original drab camo as they show up better with glossy paint.   No need for camo at an air display. Check out the shots from my link taken when it was airworthy. It looks much the same to me & they did a great job of restoring it, even for static display. They probably used the same paint.
