Just a couple randoms from sunday.

Sunday wasnt the best of weather.  I was driving along on my way home after a visit to my grandparents about 20 miles away.  I was by myself, had the cammera, and with little trafic around i couldnt help it...

Not completely stopping at the 2 intersections on the way didnt bother me sence it didnt matter how slow you were going your going to slide.  Not what the officer said when i slid past in the one little town about midway home :-[  I could have stopped but sence i was already sliding through the middle of the intersection and starting to slide off to the right where there was a nice drop off i just let off the brakes and kept going.  Not 2 seconds later I see red and blue lights :-[  Lucky I was able to talk my way out of it.  Maby i wouldnt have had that problem had they cleared the roads >:(  But that was on the way to my grandparents when the road was 10 times worse.

Trying to ballence a cammera on the stearing wheel while going 60 on a bouncy, hilly, and snow covered road wasnt easy.  But somehow i managed to snap a rather level shot.  That is not haze in the distence...Its snowing up ahead and not a flake coming down in my spot.  There was patches of heavy snow like that all the way home.  And notice there is only 3 tracks not 4.  They help when there is no traffic but when you have to inch over some it nearly pulls you off the edge.

About 2 more miles to go and finaly on the highway.  Once again its not snowing where im at but was when i got home.  Not the angle I wanted to get but its not as bad.   Slow shutter made me miss the perfect veiw and took this one insted.  It was a nice sunset though.  If you look in the mirror you can kind of see the weather i just came out of.

Its very cold now and the computer is saying 10*F with wind chill of -1*F.  I would rather have 3 feet of snow then these temps :P

That's different (but familiar). Brrr ...  Yes, in slippery conditions, all bets are off. Better to keep it real slow and just keep going, when there's no hazard. Of course, the typical hazard is usually some other driver who thinks they can drive just as they would when it's dry...
Colder than a witch's teat  here in Newark tonight, but so far not much snow or freezing rain this year (but it's only January!!). My Tracker will spin out in a heartbeat on ice or packed slush (hands in lap, feet on floor, and wait is about all I can do when that happens), but with the 4WD it goes great in deep snow.

O.K. It is too dark out (0130), but I'll just say those roads are good for about 55 to 65, especially in that late 80's early 90's Ford Bronco you are driving.

Then again, I have yet to see a pick-up in the ditch due to ice/snow, but I have seen probably a dozen Broncos, Blazers, Tahoes and Explorers exploring the world of inversion in a ditch.

I'll get you a picture of the roads I drive on later.

LOL...Its an 89 bronco II...how did you know ???

And these pics were on the way home.  The way there was right after the snow hit and its one of those light fluffy yet fill the treds type snow :P Saw several people off the road and helped 1 get out.

Way home didnt have a problem till i had to get over for another vehical.  Narrow country road even though the pic doesnt show that as much :P :-/  And yes there is a reason for all your sightings of broncos and such in ditches.  They have about no traction or balence what so ever :-/  Your back end starts to slide for no reason and if you correct to fast your gone.  Even on a level road making a turn is a pain if your going to fast.  I found even 4X4 doesnt do much good on slushy days.  Our roads are farely clear now but expecting 1-5 inches tonight.  Its getting better now that i have about 150 pounds of cement mix bags in the back.  Gives a little more traction.  Way there i did about 45-50    way back was doing more like 60 to 70 depending on the section i was on.
