Old Rhinebeck Pt. 2

Postby beaky » Thu Jan 06, 2005 9:05 pm

A few more form the box of old  prints...
First, a costumed pilot (they really get into it at ORA) loosening up the oil a bit (with a couple of vistors wondering what the hell is going on)... I suddenly cannot remember what airplane that is...

Next, a very nice old Caudron (this one might be mostly original, I can't remember) with the cowling off. I have no idea who the gentleman is, but he's obviously very secure about his masculinity ;)...

Here we see the Caudron on one of its weekend hops- just a few feet off the runway (I don't think anybody's tried to clear the trees with this one... well, maybe they tried it ONCE...).
Image

Last but not least, ORA's fantastic Albatros on a very nice flying day...

Dagnabbit! Put a prefix on all these but typed three of them wrong in Notepad! I know... but "I'm just- a caveman..."

Nice. ;)

The mystery aircraft is a Fokker D.VIII. I haven't seen that Caudron before.

Of course; thanks. Sunday is "Pioneer Day" at ORA; they trot out the real rickety old kites like the Caudron and the Bleriot XI, and hop them a few times up and down the runway. Great stuff.
