Not sure what was up with the Sea Fury. (The commentary was less than brilliant. IMHO) It did one single pass (which I missed) then landed. He seems to be a tad careful with it. This is not surprising knowing the bad luck they've had with them in the past. The current display pilot has less than 10 hours on type & maybe he's not taking any chances, especially at the end of the season. I noticed they seemed worried about a prop oil leak after it arrived.
Nice photo's Doug - Storch and Jungmeister particularly...
Anyway, the Sea Fury did a few passes with the Sea Hawk, held to the north for a few minutes then did a straight in approach to land. At the end of the show it took off, and re-appeared 15-20 minutes later, joined overhead, flew a circuit and landed. I left the field at 1800 and it was still there then...
It left for home when I was stuck in the traffic jam trying to get out of the airfield. (I assumed he was heading for home, maybe not.) Wish I'd hung around for an hour instead of wasting it sitting in my car. I'll know better next time, if there is a next time.
I got in my car at 1620, drove 50 yards in 40 minutes, parked again and went to browse the rest of the stall that were still open. Bought a nice pair of Vulcan socks (socks with Vulcans on them) from the XH588 people.
