Keeping my hand in

I popped over to Shoreham this morning to try out a few ideas. I've noticed a lot of close-ups posted on other sites where the complete aircraft is not in frame. Whether this is deliberate or not I can't say.  Thought I would have a go myself.
(These were all intended to look like this. I cropped the height of some to reduce the file size. I've taken plenty like this before by accident & dumped them.)

Both types have their "attraction"...  Real closeups have the advantage of enhanced details, like No.3,4; while the last one is a pretty bird coming in.

For my tastes, #1,3, and 4 appeal to me more than No.2, why? I can't really say... they just do.

A good photo is good, whether it's the complete aircraft or a part of it.

Well both types are nice Doug, personally I prefer a bit of close-up in my static/ground shots, and the whole plane in my flying ones.

I think you're right there Mark although I have seen some impressive aerial close-ups. I might try a few next time I get the opportunity. Guess I'm becoming addicted to my new hobby. Nothing unusual in that.

I always like the full shot that features the WHOLE plane, especially when it is flying.  Airplanes are beautiful and nothing captures the beauty more than seeing it in its entirety.
