Shuttleworth Pageant 3

Postby Hagar » Mon Sep 06, 2004 11:17 am

Here's a few more. This time the trainers.

The Avro 504K. Taught a generation of pilots to fly during & after WWI.
Image

The DH.60 Cirrus Moth. First in the highly successful Moth family.
Image

DH.60X Hermes Moth. Richard Shuttleworth learned to fly on BWD.
Image

The rare Avro Tutor in a striking paint scheme. This was the best shot I got of it.
Image

The legendary Tiger Moth.
Image

Miles Magister - the good ol' "Maggie".
Image

The Ryan PT-22 "Recruit" landing*. Latest toy of Peter Holloway who also owns the immaculate Maggie (above) & beautiful Miles Falcon Major. The PT-22 has a high landing speed & he says it stalls "like a block of flats". ;)
Image

DHC Chipmunk doing a bit of flour bombing. Last in a famous line of DH trainers.

*PS. Maybe he was taking off. ::)

Great shots there Doug. The Tiger Moth pic really shows of the upper surfaces and the anti-spin strakes in front of the horiz stab..........from the ground, you don't usually get this nice angle, unless a good pilot is in command and you are quick on the shutter release......

Good work........ :o

Doug thanks for sharing your fab weekend. I'm green with envy, especially over the de Havillands and Miles aircraft.
It must have been a truely wonderous sight!

Mark

Ps. Are you sure the Chippie pilot isn't just making a universal hand-signal at the crowd? ;D

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!
