Bones. You sound just like my ex-wife.
I have about 30 R/C models of various types - no helos though. She could never understand why I wanted more than one.

No Kidding. The big ones are nearly $1000 each and even the little electric ones are $500.

R/C helicoptors are certainly a challange. I've seen some people do amazing things with them.

Just starting out? There's the Avistar RTF trainer which comes with an engine and radio already installed. It retails for $270US. The Almost Ready to Fly version just comes with the plane. This is the best option because I don't like the engine the RTF version comes with. Pack the ARF with a brand name radio of your choice and an OS 46AX engine with an 11x7 prop.

As a  former RC aircraft builder & "pilot", I would strongly suggest you get a basic, fixed wing "trainer" for your first RC aircraft so you can develope some basic skills. It`s not as easy as you might think.

Definately. A lot of people think they're simple. They go to the store and pick up something like a Spitfire and a few hours later it's smashed to peices in some farmer's field. A basic trainer is all you need. I like the Avistar because it's a bit more flexible than it's flat bottom wing counterparts. It has a semi-symmetrical wing which allows it to do some basic areobatics. It won't do a lot because it's wings are too wide and the control surfaces are too small but it will help you learn. I find the Hobbico trainers are the best because they're rock solid in construction. A lot of people also get the Vmar Discovery trainer. It's cheap but it's not sturdy. Believe me, I've been struggling with their Tomahawk "ARF" for some time now. I don't think it's ever going to get airborn.
