actually, yes i do. Since he didnt point out in his original topic what people were supposed to be looking at i wanted to be sure. The added info was there so anyone who didnt know, now knows that the tail engine is the number 2 engine which he was wanting people to look at. Since you took my comments as me being a dick, you should know i generally wont waste time trying to sugarcoat things to many problems are caused that way::)

Hey Enemy_Swim...not that kinda board, dude. If you want to start stuff, PM me and I'll give you a list of boards that are more geared towards that type of behavior.
As for the shot itself, I almost think it's edited.....something doesn't seem right with the waves...

What waves do you mean...if you mean the tail part..I beleave it is the APU egshaust...which in some cases cause a 3rd contrail in 2 engine jets....

...and other jets

So they're running the APU inflight? That's an interesting flight method. Wonder who taught 'em that.
What I'm saying is that the heat ripples coming from the three engines are off, but I can't put my finger on how. It could just be the lighting and the equipment used to take the shot...it just seem...I dunno, severe.

Hype. That looks about right, the DC10 produces some awesome heatwaves even at idle. When anet starts working properly again i will pull up a few others that look like that. Then again i may be missing something your on about.

Oh don't get me wrong, Craig. I've worked on the -10 many, many times....I've seen what it CAN do...it's just in that shot something doesn't seem right. But I'm a retard, so I'm probably wrong. lol

LOL you could be right. The shot not the retard bit:)
The one thing i would be a little curious about is the fact that its landing and its producing that much??

It looks weird, thats for sure

And the APU exhaust is not from the no2 engine, since the APU outlet is located under the right stabilizer (correct Craig?)
Normal APU ops on the aircrafts I'm familiar with has the APU start up on the taxi-in checklists, so the APU is a non-factor here.
Maybe the no2 exhaust looks that way since the pattern is not obstructed. Both no1 and no3 has the flap system behind them which creates some airflow manipulation.
Check out this picture and you'll know what I talk about, pay attention to the outboard engine on the right wing

You're right about the airflow thing, all of the trijets all have that narrow exhaust flow effect on their #2 engines.

I have actually never thought of it until Junior posted the picture to the FedEx DC10...I mean it's not something you really ponder about during the days of your vacation ;D
