Wow, sweet shots Craig. I have kinda overlooked this part the last few days, didn't knew you posted pics :)

I will myself fly a roughly 2100nm trip to the Canarias next week, and I'm thinking of acquiring a digiCam (not a DV, just a simple camera)

Any recomendations?
Can you spot the difference between a 3.2mega pixel and a 5megapixel, for an example?

Let's say I just want shot no larger than my desktop

Thank you Nexus.
As for the camera. I use a fuji finepix 2800 which is a 2mp camera. These pics are resized from the 1600x1200 maximum i seem to get so loose a little quality. I would recommend a 3mp camera if your not overly worried about awsome quality. But you can also pick up some 5mp cameras for pretty cheap these days
http://www.dpreview.com/ Is a good site to check out some choices. I cant personally suggest a camera as i dont know your budget, mine does a good job sometimes it can be a little tricky but has great zoom, and was only $250

Hey Nexus, Kodak EasyShare cameras are great, and relatively inexpensive.  I have a 5.0 Megapixel EasyShare DX4530 and it takes both still photos and video at great quality.  It only cost $200.  Unfortunately the internal memory is very small.  A good sized memory stick (256 megs or higher) would be a good idea.

Here are some random examples of both still photos and video I have taken with this camera.

I woule recommend the Fuji ..... less hassle than the kodak ...

Kodak needs to have the base station to transfere pics from camera to computer ... With the Fuji you just use the USB cable provided.

cheers
