This was taken at JFK October 30,1983, this was one of my "Freedom Birds" that brought me home from my tour of duty in Germany. This L-1011 flew me from JFK to Denver Stapleton Intl.

I flew from Germany to the US on a TWA 747. I thought this might be of some interest. 8) ;D

SWEET!
Those TriStars are one of the most sleek birds on the planet. ;D
I love them, too bad there are almost none left in pax service :(

Nice pic! I agree, nexus. The only two airlines I know of that have them ( there are probably more) are Air Transat and ATA.

Air Luxor and YES are two Portugese carriers that still flies the TriStar. I know some other smaller airlines who flies them aswell, but the sad truth is that it's awfully hard to compete with the new 777's and A330/340 with an aircraft that is more than 20 years old :(

I was stationed at a post outside of Buren (The Bush) as we called it. It is near Paderborn, north of Giessen and Frankfort. When I was there it was a post for the US, Belgium, and the Netherlands. From what I hear it is a prison now. No military anymore. A-10 Tunderbolts used to buzz our bunker line and the guard tower on a regular basis. It was quite cool. The A-10 was on top of us before we even knew it, then we could hear the distinctive sound of the A-10 engines. We figured we were toast by that time - lol ;D
