Once again down working on the hanger getting ready for the D-day memorial some unexpected visitors arrived:

They were on thier way to AK and decided to spend the night in Knoxville, I never saw one up close and if you haven't either these things are massive!
Then while on the roof of the hanger without camera in hand this beauty flew in.

Here is the hanger, work almost complete, the hanger was built in 1937, earliest records found but may have been built even earlier, and of course the C47 that flew the skies of Normandy 60 years ago this upcoming weekend.

The C47 will be the backdrop, with a stage in front flags of the US, Canada, and Britian flying from above, allot of time and effort has been put into restoring this old hanger and not one person involved in the work has been paid a dime! Now you know why Tennesse is known as the Volunteer State :)

Very nice Fret. You never know what will turn up next when working at an airport like that so keep your eyes peeled & your camera handy. ;)

I had a trip on a blimp during a holiday in Florida some years ago. Similar to the Goodyear blimp but this was the SkyShip 500 designed & built by Airship Industries in the UK. My company used to supply engine hoses & various other parts. http://www.aht.ndirect.co.uk/airships/ss500/index.html
Very interesting it was too. Quite an experience. I always try to do something a little different when I'm on holiday.
