In Nepal 197?

Postby RVChester » Sun May 16, 2004 7:05 pm

After checking out all of your fantastic pictures I have to add a picture of a Bell 206L that my Father flew here in Nepal back in the early '70s. Please put up with me if it doesn't work (this time). I'm also putting together a photo album of the photos he took while serving with the Army Air Corp in Borneo and some of his life as a civil aviator. Fingers crossed....

And yes, that is my Father in the pilots uniform.
Three things; Motorbikes, Planes, Women, got all three and I'm happy, got the first, and I'm over the moon, doesn't make sense? Don't blame me, just pass the bike.

Hi Chester, welcome to the madhouse ;) ;D
What and when did your dad fly in the AAC? Just I have a few relatives who were involved in that conflict...

Thank you Dave and Ozzy for the welcome. Dave I'll try and post more, but unless you all want lots of shots of my bike and various scenery of Nepal it may take awhile.

Ozzy, my Father was in Borneo with the AAC in 1964 to '67 flying the Scout (I think). I'll interogate him tomorrow for you. :)

Cheers.

Just asking him nicely will do.  Remember, you have to be wary of "interrogating" these ex-military types.

Felix, if I asked him nicely I'd have to sit through ages and ages of his stories, which while interesting enough I have heard several hundred times ;D
So how about a compromise and I'll call him on the phone so that I can ask him questions and get the answers without the stories?
Are there any foums for experiences and old-timer (said with respect) stories?
By the way Ozzy, What kind of info would you be interested in?

While a summary of units/aircraft/highlights would be interesting, I would also suggest the quick "20 questions" format/interview that Aeroplane Monthly has every month, as they showcase one pilot or another.  I'll try to come up with the list tonight.

It goes from "What was your first flight?" "What interested you in flying?"  "What is your most memorable moment?" "What you you like to have done?".  I presume that by now you could probably answer these yourself :)

That I can do Felix, but one question; Where would I post the replie(s) and stories to go with them?
I got him speech to text software the other day from town, and as tomorrow is a shut down day (Maoist insurgency) I was thinking of asking him to sit in front of his PC and 'talk' things onto it...it'll keep him out of trouble  ;D
Pity he's not into FS or I'd have done a two helicopter combat patrol of Nepal on the multi-player function, but we can't all be simmers...or is that.......?
Cheers

For starters - the "History" Forum here would be a perfect location.

There's a history forum here?!? Oh yes, so there is. It just goes to show how corrupt a young mind can get checking out the jokes forum everyday ;D
As soon as I get my Father to put his history on to the computer I will post it, probally as he writes it.
Hagar, thank you.
By the way, Instead of the RVChester, or as Ozzy put it Chester, please, it's Roy. :) makes life a little easier.
Anyone been to Nepal on FS or real life yet? (Not a cheap advert campaign) as I'd like other people's views and photos of this weird place.
