Sultan of Brunei's Private Airplane

Postby Cherokee_6 » Fri Apr 16, 2004 1:46 pm

Not sure how legit the story is but this is one damm nice plane! ! ! :o :o :o :o

(I just got this in an email from a buddy so I cannot confirm the authenticity)

We saw this one on the runway in Frankfurt!!!!!
These guys have too much money! this message and the pics are from a
Retired AF Lt. General who apparently wrote:

"I toured this aircraft as it was being  "remodeled" in Waco, Texas.
Yes, the sinks are solid gold and one of them is Lalique crystal. The
Sultan bought the aircraft for roughly $100M, then had it flown to Waco,
brand-new, from the  Boeing factory. He had the interior completely
removed and had the folks at E-Systems (now Raytheon) install $120M
worth of  improvements inside and outside. I've gained entrance to nuclear
weapons storage areas much easier than gaining entrance to see this
airplane!"

I thought exactly the same.

I wonder what all those sheikhs and sultans will do if the world's oil supply shrinks...IMHO you can then pick up such a jet for "only" 100000 $.  ;) ;D

Well he's one lucky man! Is that really an airbus, because it looks like a Boeing 707 to me?

Next difference: The engines.

I'm not sure about the antenna 'though. I think the later 707s didn't have it installed...

The 747SP still is better as a private plane (more range)

The UAE government has a 'private' 747-400
Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and [url=http://an24.uw.hu/]An-24RV[/ur

Don't believe all 707's had that antenna (Which is a HF antenna). The 707's that only flew domestic flights didn't need to have it installed

So many of the arab rulers have those beautiful planes.

Prince Bandar bin Sultan of Saudi Arabia  has a HUGE residence in Aspen, Colorado, USA.   Here's an article on on one time he was escorted by our F-16s, which a quick google search brought to my screen...  One RICH guy- with a beautiful A310!
