I have had the pleasure of seeing Northern Lights (aurora borealis) on many occasions but never from a airplane.
That must have been unreal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I once had the pleasure of seeing them en route from Seattle to Anchorage in the pit of a 757 at 20 some odd thousand feet.  AMAZING experience!
Great edit, Bob.

I've seen this pic before. Pretty good photo! It was my desktop backround not too long ago.  It was taken from a 747 somewhere over northern Canada, i think.  ;D

Sweet. I would have a shot just like that If I had packed my camera in my flight bag instead of my sutcase when I flew back up here to ANC from SEA after Christmas break. >:( :(

I live in Scotland and the northern lights can be great, but I've never seen them quite like that. In fact it was only a couple of weeks back or so that I last saw them.

There are not words on earth to escibe them. They are a unique peice of work that rivals the stars and planets for beauty.

Come up here to Alaska, it becomes so common that people ignore it. :D :o

It is quite a sight! I've seen the Aurora Borealis a couple of times but never from the air! Who could ignore something like that, lol!

Beats me! I had a view flying up here almost as good as that, and the guy next to me wasn't even interested in looking out the window.
