A Giant Puzzle

Well, I have finished the painting of the three bedrooms, the master bedroom closet, the master bathroom and the landing! That was a pretty big job but thank god my brother was home from Lake Tahoe for a few weeks to give me a hand. I finished all the trim in the kids rooms and the landing. Now it is Hardwood floor install time!
This time instead of having the raw floors installed, sanded and stained like we did downstairs, I opted to go with the 3/4 natural red oak but "Finished" this time. There is no sanding and staining, as you put each piece down, it is finished. My friend Glen lent me his hard wood floor installing tools to do the job. Here is what I finished yesterday and hope to finish the rest today. My arms and back are killing me!! It is quite the work out! If there are any carpenters out there who haven't used the Pre- finished laminates, you should try it. It is great stuff. I tell you, laying these pieces out so none of the seems line up is one Giant Puzzle!!

Here is a shot coming up the stairs looking out onto the landing.

A shot of the landing all done as seem looking out my daughters doorway.

Here is a different angle of the landing looking out the bathroom doorway.

Here is a shot looking into my bedroom from the entranceway!

One more shot then I need to get back to work!!

Just thought I would share some shots to let those of you who ask see how it's going!

Looking good!!! I love the look of wood! Perhaps that is why I'm a woodworker!
Question though, where is the foam layer that goes between the flooring and subfloor? You didn't think that was packing material did you?  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thanks everybody. Actually for those who do not know. I put an entire 2nd story on top of my house this past year and a few members here are always asking how it is going so I post some progress shots every now and then!

That is looking REALLY good Dave. Excellent work ;)
Oh and when the Spit is nearing completion could you pop-over and skin her for me? There'll be plenty of food/alcohol as payment? ;) :D

I have a better idea, with the left over wood from this entire project, I will build a runway in my back yard and you can fly that Spit to my house and celebrate!  ;D

 :o    :o    :o OHHH NOOOOO!!!!!
HAHA. Actually Fret, that foam you are referring to goes on the laminate floors that are only 1/4 thin like the Pergo (  :P )  flooring system. This floor is actually real 3/4 Brazilian Cherry oak pieces but already finished. If you look close you will see the paper under the wood which eliminates squeaking of the floor! What type of woodworking do you do Fret? Here is the link to the exterior before and after shots!

SORRY! I didn't pay attention to the fact it was 3/4. But I have installed 3/4 with the foam at the owners request, they claim it will keep the floor warmer on the feet?

" Brazilian Cherry oak " is that a new species?  ;D
It look great!! Allot of work but you get the satisfaction of telling people you did it yourself! and that makes it worth while!!!

I do all kinds of woodworking, I'm a cabinet builder in my "real" job. I do allot of scrollsaw work in my free time, just been commisioned by our local Warbird museum to make a bunch of clocks so I'll be busy for awhile. So I make anything from Christmas ornaments to Dining room tables and everything in between.
Can't wait to see the pics of the completed job!!
