Trying to get used to posting photos, so here are a few taken today from my home in Sevierville, TN. The first two are Mt. LeConte, and the third is Bluff Mt.
The Smokies are beautiful all year round but there is something about winter that is special!

It is beautiful here, minus all the tourist traffic.
I learn to hate modern technology (utility wires,cell towers etc) it seems they always interfere with a good photo.


This is English Mountain two days after Thanksgiving, I managed to get a shot without the utility wires,houses, and cell towers, but I did get beef.
If I was able to post the picture a little bigger you could zoom along the top of the mountain and see the fire towers and the Ranger station.
English Mountain is a foothill of the Great Smokie Mountains National Park, and is not in "park bounderies"
So people do own land and homes on it.
I just wish that FS9 scenery looked more realistic to the Smokies! It is a beautiful place to fly!!!

Beautiful photos Fretnstuff. The views look breathtaking. I find it interesting to see the different parts of the world that forum members call home. Makes a nice change from me posting photos of my home town. LOL

I'm planning a trip into the mountains this coming weekend.
So i'll be sure to get some pictures from the mountains looking "out" .
Theses mountains are the only reason I still live here. You hike into the wilderness and something "spiritual" happens, something you must experiance because it can't be explained.

I have experienced that myself. Not only here at home but also during one memorable trip to the US.

Whenever I was feeling stressed out, usually every weekend after a hard week at work, I would take a trip to my favouite spot, just a few miles from my home. It's nothing like as spectacular as your Smoky Mountains but it has the same effect on me.

I was 5 minutes drive from the Blue Ridge Parkway mmm.. Small mountains everywhere lol
