Well, I'm sure concordepilot didn't realise what a fuss his photo would cause. ::)
The clubs & music might have changed but underage drinking is nothing new. In my day it was the Regent dance hall every Friday & Saturday night with the tables overflowing with pints of mild. The girls danced together round their handbags while the boys spent the evening getting plastered trying to pluck up the courage to go on the floor & ask for a dance, which they finally did - halfway through the last dance. I prefer to forget some of the ones I ended up with. They looked a bit different in daylight when you're sober. :o

From what I can see the main difference is that the girls now drink more than the boys. I expect they cause more trouble too.

PS. I gave up drinking long ago. I still enjoy a night out but a couple of pints & I'm anybody's these days. ;)

That really is quite petit. I mean I live within a mile of one of the biggest club spots in the UK, and hardly ever see puke or beer cans. And out off place signs or cones?? Who cares????

I can't believe this is what your objection to drinking is based upon. I mean, i can kind of understand Jake saying its to do with health etc... but common...if what your saying above is a issue in your life I envy you!

It's true, I highly doubt it's the case everywhere, but last Monday on my way back from my European studies class, I counted three fresh spots on the sidewalk, and I know they're fresh, because I walk past there three times a week.  I'm 100% certain it's because it's a bunch of binge-drinking college students, and that is what annoys me.  It's also the attitude people have toward drinking here, an example of this: there is a "task-force" of six or so Madison Police Officers who walk around campus trying to keep only the loudest and drunkest people/groups in control, and a couple of weeks ago, this group of people saw a girl passed out on the floor of her house, in a pool of her own "fluids", with her front door open, so they took her to the hospital, and essentially saved her life, because she could very easily have died where she was.  The officers came back a couple of days later to check up on her, and she had the audacity to chew them out for coming into her house without permission, even though it was to save her life!  It's that kind of blind disrespect to people who deserve it more than anyone else that really boils me.  Like I said, I really don't mind at all if you just go out and drink with your friends, in fact, just last night I sat around with a couple of my friends while they all drank quite a bit, and I just had a bottle of water, and I didn't care at all, but when you make yourself sick/stupid/dangerous drunk, than that's too far in my book, and you should reconsider your "fun" and how it affects those around you.

And yes, it is an issue in my life because it affects what I do in my life.  I'm not saying that there aren't other issues in my life, this one is just particularly annoying to me because of the blatent disregard for others shown by these people who are having "fun".  Don't go too crazy...;)

just saying some of the people against it have never done it so cnt realy judge! but once they turn legal they will more than likely go out with their friends drinking and such.

Why can't I judge.  Ive nevers said anything about it being fun or not, but Ive seen what can happen to people who drink to get drunk.  Ive seen people puking their guts out, Ive known people who have died, and as I said before I have a close friend who almost died.  Ive seen damaged livers in museums, Ive read and studied the effects of alcohol in my 2 years of biology courses.

Drinking in general is fine.  Having a few drinks at a party is fine by me, go right ahead, have a good time.  But getting completely plastered to the point where you acn't remember what you did or as mobius said cant even remember your name is STUPID AND DANGEROUS!  And okay drinking under 21 (or 18) is legal while buyin alcohol is illegal, but someone underage SHOULD NOT DRINK.  Theres a few reasons why, primarily because a maturing body (not the 17 or 18 year olds here, the 13 and 14 year olds better listen) cannot take this kind of punishment without serious health issues later in life.  Also, judgement and mindset plays a major part.  I dont give a shit if you think you are responsible, the facct of the matter is if you are drinking to the point where you wake up in the morning with a hangover and you cant rememberwhat the hell you did the night before then you really arent showing good judgement Or being very wary of how to treat your body.

And cobra, I dont know why you think I am so wrong for saying things like this or trying to point out the dangers, I dont really care if these people dont want to listen to me or dont want someone looking out for their safety, but in my view since they clearly dont give a shit about what they do to their bodies then its better I say something than they end up dead!
