As for rejecting for no reason I've never found that to happen, problem is, there's loads of people biased against A.net whether it be because they can't get anything on in the first place or just can't take a rejection (no digs at you here by the way Doug). So many of them spread bad (false) rumorus.

I would hope not. ::) I know my limitations & would never upload any of my photos to Anet in the first place, even if I thought they were good enough. I take them purely for my own pleasure & I've never been the competitive type. ;)

Well, my photo wasn't up to their standards as far as quality went. Remember, it doesn't matter whether one shot is terminally boring and the other is 'exciting', if the technical aspect is good on the boring shot but not on the 'exciting' then that's what they judge by.

I'm an enthusiast & can't see anything special about that photo at all. The aircraft is a common sight at Popham & the composition is nothing to write home about.

Totally valid points there Doug and I agree with you on them both. A.net shouldn't be taken as competition at all (people who do are silly), I like the satisfaction from getting a shot on there but it's not the end of the world if a shot gets rejected. As for the Popham shot by "technically good" i meant in focus, exposed and sharp enough (not by my standards, by theirs). I agree it's nothing special but that's A.net for you, it's about quality not imagination there.

Apologies if I offended you at any point :-[

I have to say some of their "experts" really don't know what the **** they're talking about!!!
I only posted my unusual ones from over here in Hungary like at Ferihegy Airport Museum and from the Kecskemet airshow and the odd local kite 'cos there aren't many of those and I know there are a lot of people who love the Soviet kites but don't get much chance to see them.
I only post there when I feel I have something I want to share. A lot of my stuff is a lot better than things they've got there but like Doug they're personal. My Spitfire pics have never gone up there.
I'm not in Steve or Dougs league... wish I was!

I gave up on Anet the other day.  Keep getting this thing telling me theres 2 emails under my screen name.  Theres mine and one ive never seen before.  And its signing me in as Triple_7 insted of the Triple_7_2006 I signed up with >:(  All I get is email replies telling me that the other person has to agree to change.  Theres no photos under the other one and that address no longer exists >:(  So after getting the run around for the past 2 weeks...screw Anet :-X

Tried Jetphotos.net...they are a joke...I see complete crap from some of regular posters get put up but then a "rare" shot of mine gets rejected for being "a little dark" After 15 strait rejects that I somewhat could agree with this last one just made me give up.  Its from FWA a couple weeks ago.  Theres only 1 other photo from FWA in their database and its from 1990.  My shot was great quality but was taken during final approch in some heavy clouds.  It looks just how I remember it in real life.  Not going to edit it just to make it brighter...whats the point in that...then its fake light >:(  So...F### it ::)

Anet is the same way though.  You see the higher posters get complete crap and sometimes fake shots into the database but any new person sits and fights forever with great shots and cant get the first one accepted :-/

I remember a "shot" of a United 757 landing.  It looked fake, and the guy even put in the coments it was fake.  Then why the hell did it get accepted by Anet >:(  Let alone it was one of the "shots of the day" :-/

Anet... cough... Was all excited when I got my camera, quickly abandonned the idea of ever uploading shots... I post my best shots at airliners.be, far less strict qualityrules and utter joy to see lots of nice shots, never caring about they aren't superrazorsharp and so on...   ;D

Besides, I like it best to post my shots here, as you get replies to them... something Anet and other sites lack... a friendly wommunity who honestly appreciate the efforts of the photographer, without judging the quality and hardware to much...

My 2 cents...   ;)

Not true. In fact it only took me two attempts to get my first photo accepted, and the second time I got another accepted (I have a grand total of 2 photos on there, right now! ;D). However, I have to be very picky with what pictures I upload, as it is hard to get top quality pictures at 1024x*** resolution, from my camera. I'd need a dSLR for the quality to be more consistent.

What you've got to think to yourself, is "are these photos good enough?". It's no use submitting pictures that haven't been properly edited, or scrutinised by yourself or someone else, because it will just end up in disappointment, and you won't want to submit any more.

If by that you mean:

...then don't try. Not meaning to sound cynical or too harsh, but that photo will not get accepted. ;)

Have to agree with Tweek on this one, the aircraft is badly cropped / framed, it's not centered and it (looks) to be backlit as well...

Sorry.

I wonder if my Maho beach shots from St Maarten would make the cut?

I am sure that 2nd to last shot of the Continental would make it!

Possibly, if it was edited a little better. There's a lot of visible noise/grain on that picture, and it needs to be a centred a little more. ;)
