Sorry hagar, when i first tried ulite it didnt work , but it appears to be working correctly now. im gonna use that from now on, cheers Hagar, and sorry for causing such a stir!!!

It's no big deal & not worth making a fuss over. Everyone has their own favourite methods of doing these things & all suggestions in this thread are valid. You must decide what suits you best. From what I've seen of it uMark Lite is a quick & easy way of doing what you wanted. You can add text to images with most graphics editing software including IrfanView.

Steve (61_OTU) makes a valid point. Unless your images are of exceptionally high quality nobody is likely to steal them so ask yourself if all this is really necessary.

hmmm, i could remove your watermark in about 10 seconds hagar ... riflemans would take more like 30 mins! but still, i reckon that makes watermarks pretty pointless if you want them to safe guard your images ! i just wouldnt sweat it!

but i still don't see why anyone would need a specialist program to add text to a picture, you could even do it in MS Word!

OK clever clogs. :P I really don't know why I got involved in this. All I did was answer a simple question. ::)

The image I posted is a simple example of what the little program I found can do. If you take the trouble to read my earlier replies I could easily move the watermark with a couple of mouse clicks to make it like Ken's & therefore more difficult to remove. Alternatively, I could replace the text with another image which would make it even more difficult, although why anyone would bother to do this is beyond my comprehension. The point is that there are far better quality images than mine posted all over the Internet without watermarks so why would anyone go to the trouble of removing the one from mine?* http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1243573/L/

*PS. If you care to mail me I will send you the high resolution original & save you the bother. ;)

i couldnt find a better suited subforum to put this in so i will try here!

I have just setup my own aviation photography website(shameless plug goes here www.freewebs.com/ashots ), for amateur aneters!!!! But as part of the package i want to be able to offer people who upload photos some advice on how to watermark images so for example they cant be playgerised. Anyone know of any good free software that can apply a watermark to photos, jpegs, gifs etc

Cheers

I have recently tried Watermark Master and was strongly impressed with it! Lots of different watermarks, dynamic effects and other sweeties:P It's not free, but you can make use a trial version.
