I'm going by the caption to that photo from my link. Apparently this is an example of the DC-3 that had main gear doors. I was reading about this only the other day but I forget where.

I found a detailed history of the actual aircraft now at Doncaster with an air-to-air shot in happier times. http://www.douglasdc3.com/dc3deri/dc3deri.htm

PS. Photo showing the gear doors here. http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=5654422
This is the same aircraft in 1986.

What is that thing in the 8th shot down of that link beacause I remember seeing it and wondering what it was.

The 7th shot down is the tailcone next to the fuselage. The 8th is the wing centre section.
