I didnt say this in my previous post but i do prefer digital for just those reasons mentioned. I suggested film beacuse thats what i first experimented with and was told to do. But it sounds like the camera your getting will be fine. Photography seems so simple, and in a sense it is for the average person. But if you want to get serious its a whole new ballgame. The major thing is to remember the rule of thirds, thats the top thing you need to keep in mind when takeing photos. I hope she has fun with it and i would definatly concider buying some simple filters, personally i have a UV, a PL(polariser gets rid of some reflection in water and has some other uses) and a FLD (eliminates effects of florecent light) and all seem to work well. i'm attempting to sell some of my photos (not going well, not many people are looking) and i have had alot of good comments from friends. As for printing i usually print one 8x10 evry so often and paying 2 bucks aint bad. I can print 4x6 on my own with the kodak printer that came with my camera. So I have my own ways of doing things that seem to work for me.
P.S. looking forward to see some shots from her.
