They should be spayed between 5 and 6 months ....... that way they never know motherhood and never will (Cats only display maternal instincts after the litter is born and they have heard the kittens ...... take kittens away immediately before the mother hears them and they don't even remember being pregnant.)
It also defends against some diseases.
