James would know, he's from New Jersey.  They're all certified experts on mafia activities ;D

Good question. Peter Jackson is a film director who directed the Lord of the Rings among others. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Jackson
According to a newspaper report (Mail on Sunday) he's involved with a remake of the Dam Busters film. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds32657.html

According to another newspaper (the Sun), Sir David Frost who recently purchased the rights to the story apparently denied any knowledge of it.

I don't care how many special effects they care to use, I can't see how they can improve on a classic. ::)

Oh, I thought the Peter Jackson part was a joke.

As for the movie, the original of course, I have yet to see it. I assume it's called "Dam Busters"?

Indeed. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046889/

It's black & white & tells the story like it was. If you like modern special effects this is not a film for you.

Nope, it really was him - I saw him a bit later, but obviously it would have been a little lacking in tact to shove a camera in his face and take a photo. He's had quite a shave though recently...

I do like special effects, however if made all about the effects it can really ruin a movie too.

I loved "Battle of Britain", so if my grandpa, who's a huge fan of historic films, has it I'll loan it from him. Or perhaps I'll catch it on TCM one day...

I just read "Nice one Nemo" as a joke.. I've got to stop skimming three-word sentences! ;D

Oh my God, this brings a real shiver to the spine. Dam Busters is a classic and does not need a remake. It does not need special effects. I can

Sorry Roger/Doug but I disagree :)

Dambusters is a classic and will never be improved upon. 8)

However a modern remake, special effects aside, will still contain plenty of real footage of the remaining Lancaster bombers. For period authenticity those in flying or ground running condition  will be employed for a variety of roles, along with any other period warbirds. It's a good thing to use these planes in a production which will generate a lot of cash for their upkeep and preservation.

Also, even if liberties are taken with the story, the story will still be told. Clearly it would be better if they stuck to the facts however  ::), but people who don't already know the story and film aren't likely to seek it out, this will bring it to a new audience.

It'll be a film with lots of flying, real and cgi, and it may even have a half decent interpretation of a true story. Bring on the popcorn 8)
