Mmm, a tricky one. With a fixing like that it looks fairly substantial... :)

I'm thinking a tail rotor, but maybe not.

A helicopter?? ;D

It looks a tad small for a standard tail rotor. I think it may have come from an enclosed rotor so I'm gonna make a random guess....Dauphin???

He said it's quite old, so i'd go for a part of a tailrotor of a huey!

At first I was going to say some sort of stator vane. Now I'm leaning toward some sort of aircraft sensory device. The blade being the sensor wheras that lower section in the picture looks as though it should plug in somewhere on the fuslage. Am I close? Points for an educated guess ::).

DOH!! There wasn't a page 2 when I was doing this!! I'm way off base :-[

Just a standard Tail rotor blade from the rear rotor fan of a Gazelle. Sorry it could go on for a while:)
quick backstory, this is part of a presentation trophy given to my dad for his army service. He has a few of them and gave me this one. :D

You deserve an applause for that guess - you can't get any closer than that to a Gazelle! ;D

Of course:) Dont they work off a simmilar system anyway? Same number of blades and attachment type.

Wouldn't be surprised if the basic mechanics of the two tails were the same, if not the actual rotor...
