Thanks for all the interest :D
Craig has made a superb point there about the fact that even our getting the JSF is 50/50. They'd be better off just getting two new proper aircraft carriers and navalising the Typhoon! ;D ;)

BTW you brits will have a flying buccaneer up for the coming airshow season! Please take some wonderfull snaps of it

Afrad it's not likely to be seen much in 2006, maybe in 2007. Bit like the vulcan really, first flight hopefully in 2006 but first display most likely to be in 2007.

One question though...Are you a professional  photographer?

Nope, completely amateur.

A large part of the JSF is british, its just being finalised and built in the US. Another reason why the military are getting fed up with withheld information. Most of it was ours to begin with.

France have said they would be happy to supply us with the rafale as we will be using simmilar carriers to them anyway.

Oh and great shots ;D

I hope that doesn't happen. I seem to recall that France had difficult getting their aircraft off their carriers as well. Because of the deck being too short. :P

new carriers, not the current CDG class or whatever it is called. The French will receive the same ones as we will.

Come on guys, this argument will never end.  You brits like the harrier, americans like the JSF.

I will be the exception.  I think that it would be more advantagous to update the harrier than to replace it.  Honestly, I think that if the harrier was more fuel efficient when verticle and had a more powerful engine to go supersonic and to take of vertically with a full combat load it would be the greatest fighter/attack aircraft of all time.

The big differance woody, is the cost per flying hour. That includes maintanence. The only way for the harrier to be that cost effective is a complete rebuild and design overhaul.

So they intend to save money by getting aircraft that can't actually fly and therefore they just have to pay for maintainence? ;D

Well after the SHAR has gone the only fixed wing aircraft in the RN will be those belonging to the Royal Naval Historic Flight. Sea Fury and Swordfish on the new carriers ;D I'd take the Sea Fury over JSF any day ;)

Actually, talking of that I believe it's somthing of a tradition in the RN that the first aircraft to be placed upon a new carrier is a Swordfish.
