As for the light, it's required by the Base Commander for safety and I need the kick stand because I don't like putting it on bike racks [spiders get on it - specially in the summer].

EDIT: I suck at stunts anyways. ::)

It looks like a nice bike Katahu.

It's been so many years since I've ridden my bike, I don't even remember where it is, let alone what kind of condition it's in. I think it might even be too small anyway.

Chromed peddles. I bet they can hold up against GI-Issue combat boots.

What uniform do you wear on your average work day? I had guessed that you wore your *semi dress uniform instead of BDUs in the pharmacy.

*I don't know what it's called in the Airforce, but it would be the equivelent to the class B's in the Army. Dress pants with a dress short sleeve shirt. Our class A's is a long sleeve shirt, tie, and the jacket.

Before we had a new Base Commander, our old Commander told us to wear BDUs Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri. and where Class Bs on Wed. But our new Base Commander [a Major General] told us to wear BDUs everyday of the work week.

I didn't like the Class Bs anyways because keeping it clean while on a bike [especially if it's raining] has prove to be close to impossible. Especially if half my job is spent talking to patients on how to take their meds [this is where a clean uniform is important].

Don't worry about the military terminology. They're all basically the same for all branches. The only differences are the style of the uniforms, name and style of the ranks, and how we enjoy our living areas [Seamen sleep in boats, soldiers sleep in barracks with a partner, airmen sleep in dorms - one airman per room ;) ]

I spent last weekend on an Airforce base while attached to an Army Medical unit. We ate at one of the base cafeterias, and I did notice the different rank insignias. People with upside down Army rank greated us, but we had no clue of how to address them.

The most noticeable difference with your rank is that you have to sew your rank onto your sleeves. I just finished sewing my unit patch, and my rank insignia on my Class A's a couple days ago. I'm glad I don't have to do that to all my uniforms.

Personally, I like our pin-on rank instead of the Air Force style where it's sewn onto the sleeves. When we get promoted, our CO can simply remove our rank, and pin our new rank on.

Hey now, I believe that's the Navy's way because living quarters are so cramped ;D

Btw, have you ever tried spending a night sleeping in the mud or in the cab of a truck? It's quite an adventure 8)

Just so you know next time. ;)

You know, in the Airforce, the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force [CMSAF] or E-9 is usually nicknamed "God". ;D

Because to get such a rank requires a level devotion to the military than one would expect. The rank itself makes the wearer a representative of all the enlisted personnel in the USAF. Not only that, it probably takes an act of Congress to demote a CMSAF and these ranks are super rare and extremely hard to get [even for most gung-ho military minds].

In a way, the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force is basically the true head of the Mouse rather than the tail of the lion.
