Hardly surprising when they came over here in their smart new unifoms & pinched all the women. Hence the old adage: Overpaid, oversexed & over here. :P ;)

...husbands not only had to protect their wives from the advances of the smart, smooth-talking GI's, but also the good-looking Italian prisoners-of-war who worked on the land... :'(...!

...unwelcome visitors from foreign parts... ;)... ;D...!

Paul.

Also, I remember some very severe winters during the 1940's... :o...!

uniform's

What's all this then? I never wrote that. ::)
Tampering with my posts & adding errant apostrophes to wind me up. You almost had me going there you crafty old Fozzer you. :P ;D

also the good-looking Italian prisoners-of-war who worked on the land...

My Mum often used to talk about when she was a young girl living on a farm. She had a twinkle in her eye when remembering those Italian PoWs. They must have been based at a camp near the farm & came & went much as they pleased, just as long as they reported for work in the morning & got back to the camp by a certain time. They were well-respected as hard workers & unlike the Germans they had no intention of escaping. My old Mum used to take them their grub, cooked by my Grandma. ;)

Tee-Hee...;D...!

That happens automatically when I run my trusty spell-checker on my Firefox tool-bar....
It corrects not only my spelling, but also seriously queries the quotations as well....LOL... ;D...!

Re: The Italian POW's. We had them working on the farm where I lived in the country during the war. Very nice chaps and very polite, .....and very glad not to be dieing in the War... ;)...!

Cheers, Doug...!

Paul...must get another bag of apostrophes from Sainsbury's today...running short... :'(...!

Tee-Hee...;D...!

That happen's auto-matic-ally when I run my tru-'sty 'spell-checker on my Fire-fox tool-bar....
It cor-rect's not only my 'spel-ling, but al-'so 'seriou'sly quer-ie's the quo-ta-tion's a's well....LOL... ;D...!

I see. So you've set up your spellchecker to add errant apostrophes & hyphens so it corrects things the way you want. ::) I'm sure that's not the way it's supposed to work but two can play at that game. :P :D
