Atlantic City Polar Bear Club

Postby Willit Run » Thu Jan 01, 2009 11:51 pm

Well, today at noon the AC Polar Bear Club did their annual Plunge into the Atlantic. At the time it was about 24 degrees with a wind chill factor of 17 degrees.

Thats not a polar bear, there's no ice!  Here we have to use equipment to make a hole in the ice for the people to get in the water.

There would have to be an angry Polar bear chasing me to get me in that ice water.    [smiley=bath.gif]

SHRINKAGE?!?  You mean emplosion!

;D ;D ;D

It'd be an "innie". :D

Great stuff- I once witnessed the Coney Island chapter doing this; I happened to be walking on the beach on a very, very cold New Year's day and all these half-naked lunatics bolted out of their clubhouse into the surf.
One of these days I'd like to join them- must be very refreshing! ;D

I keep thinking how bad could it be for a minute and maybe I'll try next year.  Then the brain cells I have left say "Oh, no you won't".
