Shoreham Air Show -

Postby Felix/FFDS » Thu Sep 01, 2005 10:09 am

I expect that our SimV correspondents will carry regular updates....

A mix of old and new - a Red Arrows Hawk behind a Dakota?

I'll be going over tomorrow to take a peek. The Red Arrows don't display at Shoreham but we've been promised a flypast this year. That might be their static Hawk. Not sure it's airworthy or how they move it around.

PS. The RAFA display clashes with Biggin Hill this year so I'm not sure yet which day I'll be going to the show.

PS. What would you do?
Biggin Hill International Air Fair
Shoreham Airshow 2005
I reckon Biggin on Saturday depending on the weather.
Red's fly in with Delta jets

The Red Arrows have agreed to formate with the Gnat and Hunters of the Delta jet team for their arrival on Saturday morning. The Gnat was used by the RAF display team the Yellow Jacks followed by the Black Hunters representing the Red's predessors the Black Arrows.

Tough one. Biggin would be good if I was in a fit state to go down... Tin cans deplying to Biggin tomorrow...

*ps - the Hawk's a plastic one if its the same one they parked outside the mess at Cranners last year

If I had to choose one show from last season as the best all-round display it would be Biggin Hill without a doubt. Shame it clashes with Shoreham this year. I reckon someone slipped up.  ::)

There's also the Shuttleworth Pageant on Sunday.

It appears my peers have a plan to make me "alcoholically unfit" for Sunday... :o

Ah well, enjoy it. ;)

I've been at Shoreham all day basking in the beautiful sunshine. Lots of activity but a disappointing day with the camera. I'll try to do better on Sunday. If anyone's thinking of going it looks like a decent show as usual. If you can't go, why not check out the live airport webcam. Show is on Saturday & Sunday. Flying starts about 11.30 am. Time is in GMT. http://www.shorehamairport.co.uk/webcam.asp

PS. Here's one of the shots I missed. Harrier departing on the Monday after the Airbourne show. Taken by James Harris from the top of the teminal building. He was standing about 10 feet above me. http://www.shorehamairport.co.uk/images/photogallery/HARRIER-lrg.jpg

Yep. You can see them on the webcam.

One of the few decent shots I got all day.

Hope they have better luck with serviceability than last time. Don't know if you heard the tale of woe but that must have been a tad embarassing. ::)

I'm surprised there were any of your tin cans left to fly. Most of them seemed to be down here at one point. ::)

P.S. Can someone tell me why the hawk practically did a tail-slide at Shoreham? I bet someone's gonna get a slap on the wrist for that one ???

He'd be very lucky not to receive a Caterpillar club membership if he managed to do that. Jets don't work backwards...
