After careful consideration I reckon it is one of those clockwork Spads that Hagar and Fozzer learnt to fly on ;D

Spad - bit late for Hagar and Foz - I thought they learnt to fly on Pilcher Hawks, like the one in the RAF Museum - at least Fozzer did... ;) ;D

Cheeky but you're not far out. :P I actually learned to fly on one of these fine machines at RAF Hawkinge in June 1959. Mr Slingsby's Kirby Cadet Mk III (Tandem Tutor). It had the gliding qualities of your average house brick. ::) ;D

Before you die laughing just remember this. :P ;D
The next time someone sneers at a wooden sailplane, remind them that it is made of a unidirectional reinforced laminated composite material consisting of micro-tubular fibres embedded in a long chain polymer matrix and having a near infinite fatigue life.

Unlike GRP... :)

Shame about Hawkinge, a beautiful grass field, now covered in yet another housing estate, just like Gravesend, West Malling, Hornchurch....

Nice little museum - they don't like cameras though..

I don't know what Mark it is but those cowling fasteners hardly look original.

Ahhh, I know which one it is now, MK923...

Was (theoretically) airworthy until it moved to Seattle - the previous owner was actor Cliff Robertson of "633 Sqn" fame. Flew very rarely during his ownership from what I've heard though...
