So to keep it brief, I'm currently out in Vancouver working for the year and trying to earn enough dosh to continue with flight training.

Thanks Fozzer! Much appreciated and yes indeed. The lady folk here are, well, a pleasant change..!

And yes, Dundee to Vancouver is a fair distance (c.4000miles). But I flew from Glasgow - AirTransat infact, cheaper than most airlines and still a great service.

Formerly had flight training on the mighty ESUAS from RAF Leuchars, but have since left and looking to continue out here - looking to be quite steep with pricing however.

Oh, and that website... could do with an update HA!

My first thought...
..Vancouver...Cold, wet, and misty.... ..!

Then I remembered...
Its exactly the same in Scotland...So no change!... ...!

All my investigations of the North-West USA (Seattle, etc), and Vancouver, reveal almost constant rain for most of the rear!
A very wet place?

The Northern Borders of Sunny California is as far as I travel Northwards in my FS 2004 Flight Sim GA Aircraft!
Further North than that, and its Wild, and Wet, and Cold!... ...!

Flight training costs?

So far it's been ok - as in high 20's and sunny! Although with Fall/Autumn/Winter starting to close in, the weather has been getting a bit grumpy. Has only rained about 3 or 4 times in the two months I've been here, which as you can imagine makes a slight change to back home!

From what I've been told though, it's very odd for it to be like that. This turning-fall sky earlier has some really beautiful colours to it, especially with the late evening clouds rolling down from the mountains (there are worse bus journeys home - I just wonder what the view the incoming traffic to YVR must see from the cockpits).

Flight training, I'm still to get word about that, so will respond when I have more info. I reckon it to be around the same as in the EU/UK though.

..where it poured with rain incessantly, in every episode, and everyone was drenched to the skin!
The most depressing, miserable, environment possible!
I have never seen so much rain since Noah built his Ark!*... :o...!

If that's what its like in Seattle/Vancouver, then I'll stick to Barbados, and a spot of sunshine!... ;D...!

I agree on the rainfall this year ... Getting to ride pretty much every day lately, including a trip to Lillooet for lunch a week or three ago. Traffic is light most days but then I've ridden/driven in worse. If you haven't had a chance yet, try to stop in at Steveston Village at the foot of No 1rd in Richmond for some fish n chips at Pajo's.

It's a strange weather situation. I'm used to a September being either full of rain, or bitter and turbulent winds.
So far it's been quite warm and humid, then again I'm in a completely different part of the world with slightly different weather patterns.

On the topic of Pajo's - someone at work mentioned that place almost as soon as I'd finished reading your post! Completely out of the blue! HA.
Also, I'm looking for cheaper than usual imported Irn-Bru. Found a candy shop just off Robson and Granville that does it for $3 a can. Apparently McLaren's in Gastown and a few others in Steveston Village and Richmond sell it - but it's very elusive!

Flying Beaver does amazing halibut and chips, and you can watch the nicest beavers out west there as well... and i don't just mean the planes!!!   :D

Interesting to see that you're shooting with an OM-1 ..... many years have passed since I shot some images with a trip, but since taking on Digital about 15 yrs ago, I've come to use Oly for my stuff now....presently own and shoot with an E-500 and an E-620.....will use them till they break, I suppose....
