Nice looking fleet. It reminds me to dust off my Min-Mag and get my B25 finished. Problem is too many fingers in to many pies. Plastic models and RC Helicopters too......So many toys to choose from and a wife who does not really understand my dilemma

Oh yeah, I have not been married long enough yet for my wife to be forced to endure all my hobbies BUT already she does not understand. Women just dont get that there are things to build, virtual skies to fly through, and guns to clean!

Is there anyone from the U.K that could give me a bit of advice on how to get started?

Also do you need some sort of license or need to be in designated places to fly them, I'm guessing they can be pretty dangerous if not used wisely.

A good place to start would be to find a local club, possibly through the bmfa website. Model flying's opened up a bit in the past decade - so called "park flyers" being available in high st shops and gadget shops far more freely. The whole "park flying" thing is a bit dubious in the crowded UK though, and without being a bmfa member(and hence have insurance, mainly incase you hit someone, somehow), should anything go wrong you're on dodgy ground - hence it's a good thing to join a club affiliated to them!

PS... BMFA, for googling purposes, is British Model Flying Assn!

Good advise from "C". I am self taught and looking back I would not recommend it. Especially when it comes to helicopters.........gets to be very expensive.

I was taught at 12 or 13, and it's amazing how much easier it is to fly inside, as opposed to outside, the aeroplane!

The Zlin is small model, wingspan is 1600mm, it's 2 stroke engine 4ccm, it's very stable in flight, when i reduce throttle and decide to land there is no need for acceleration(interesting for Zlin)he's almost like a glider.

-Bf109 is 2200mm(wingspan), 20ccm, he's very realistic and without power he's falling like a stone, very complicated on landing, very realistic.

-And the Tiger is like a glider too, I would say the Tiger is very good for the beginning-on this type of models, BUT for beginners I think You should get a RC simulator, and buy a remote control for simulator and start practising.

And I understand about hobby, Me and my Dad are in this together, and we live in apartment-we don't have a garage, so my mum is like:OOOhhhhh planes everywhere, on the wardrobe, on the wall, in the bedroom...Nobody understand our needs.

With the increase in far eastern ARF foam, 1600mm is quite big these days! My latest steeds for my comeback to RC are 850-900mm.

In fact, how about a photo. Alfa Model Spitfire Mk Vb, repainted from the standard grey/green camo (due to, er, a technical error on my part!). Coconut for the first person to reveal the other identity of G-AISU!

Your mother and my wife would have quite a bit to talk about. I do have a garage, but I just could my keep my babies with the spiders and cold

BBMF Spitfire AB910, looking as she did when she flew in civilian colours as G-AISU for air racing in 1947. I have to say, I did not realise that she had such a colourful history before she entered service with the BBMF.......As long as that is the answer you are after :-/
