Something that may turn you green with envy

Postby BAW0343 » Sat Nov 06, 2010 3:44 am

I got an interesting opportunity today. A few months ago I was contacted by a member of a group of local aviation photographers I belong to. they were asking if I wanted to attend a photocall at NAF El Centro to which I quickly said yes. Today was the day of said photocall. We met outside the base and did some normal photography from the fence from 8:00am. Then, at 12:00pm we all went to the main gate and continued on base. From there, the 40 photographers invited, loaded on to buses, and well... were escorted here:

We were literally inches from the runway where F-18's were taking off. Let me tell you.. When that afterburner kicks in a mere 30 ft from you, it shows its power!  8-) I was wearing earplugs AND the headphone style hearing protection. Those bastards were LOUD.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Looks like those aircraft ruined a lot of your shots. What a horrible place to take photos, some people have the worst luck.

:o Lucky son...

There was some amazing grass out there! Even some hills to take photos of. But all the damn planes kept getting in the way. I took 800 images and not a single one could keep the planes out of the shot. I think they were out to mess up my day  ::)  ;)
