The Delaware Water Gap

Postby flyboy 28 » Thu Oct 30, 2008 10:07 am

My dad needed me to go up to North Jersey on Saturday to take some files to one of his clients, so I decided to take the scenic route.

Some background;
The Delaware Water Gap is on the border of New Jersey and Pennsylvania where the Delaware River traverses a large ridge of the Appalachian Mountains. A water gap is a geological feature where a river cuts through a mountain ridge.

The Delaware Water Gap is the site of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, which is used primarily for recreational purposes, such as rafting, canoeing, swimming, fishing, hiking and rock climbing. With a fishing license, one can fish in the Delaware for carp, shad and other fish.

Looks nice even on a yukky day... :)
I know Frog Pond and a couple of other out-of-the-way roads there on the NJ side... nothing better than escaping on a hot day for a dip in the Delaware!
I've snorkeled in there (I can vouche for the carp, and have even seen baby eels), but never rafted it. One of these days... but of course a white-water trip farther west would be more fun.
