Nikon 8700 Lenses

I just got a Nikon 8700 for dirt cheap, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of lenses I should look at.  I'm quite new to this all (new to anything past point and shoot), so I'm not looking for the greatest lens that is going to cost hundreds of dollars so I can take a picture of a crack in the engine cowling of a 737 at 42,000 feet, but I would like something that could get decent pictures.  I'm not totally sure what I should be looking at though.

If any more information is needed, feel free to ask.  Thanks for any help.

You won't find lenses that cost hundreds of dollars for a bridge-camera. I'd sugest you use the camera as it is, as the lenses placed in front of the actual lens of the camera will reduce the imagequality.

This should be a very nice camera to learn about photography and changing the settings. Experiment away and have fun.

When you reach the boundaries of the camera, you can always switch to dslr, but learn to walk before you run.

Thank you guys.  No offense taken.  If I were easily offended, I would never learn anything.

Sounds like I'll stick with what I have now, although I might get a little tripod or something, when the shutter time gets higher than a half second there's really noticeable blurring.  I spent about an hour on Saturday night reading about the camera and trying things out, then two hours last night taking pictures of the same thing over and over on all the different settings to see how much things changed and how different changes affected the picture.  I finally ended up with something I liked after figuring it out:



It's nothing special, and please excuse my messy room (currently cleaning it, and temporarily at my Mom's house now that I'm a lazy bum since school is done ), but it seemed like all the preset settings gave noisy, dark, or blurry pictures.

The reason I'm looking at this stuff is I'm going to be going to Yellowstone next week and I don't want to get out there and realize my pictures won't turn out the way I want them because I'm missing a $20 part.

I think a tripod would help you a lot.
You could then get decent panoramic shots when your away.
Handheld is okay and I've gotten some decent pano's that way, but a tri-pod just makes them a lot better.
