Must have been quite a voyage back in those days, leaving your hunger starvin country for the wild unknown west... Was Philadelphia a spot where many immigrants arived?

A lot of them settled in the Philadelphia area after arriving to Ellis Island.  Philadelphia was a big melting pot of immigrants from Europe and still has sections that are that are broken up by nationalities. South Philly is mostly Itailian.  Northeast Philly is mostly Jewish.  Kensington is made up of mostly Irish and so on.  The one section of Philly you really don't want to venture into is North Philly especially at night!! :o
