Some more low-budget (and not-so-low-budget) fliers...

Doesn't get more basic than this. Clip a steerable canopy to this and off you go!

The next thing: a two-seat trike. Note how the canopy stows in a little bag which clips to the frame.

I prefer this, because it's a "proper" airplane (just barely).

These are pretty neat, too... powered hang-gliders have come a long way. ;D

A favorite classic of mine: the Hummelbird. This is a really fine one.

The Electric Flier: a full charge on that big Li-on pack will give you 1.5 hours of flight... for about 60 cents. Only problem is, the battery packs cost up to $7000. ::) But it would pay for itself quickly enough- almost zero maintenance on that motor, and you can't beat less than 50 cents/hr operating costs, even for an ultralight. It's also super-quiet, which means you could fly it in and out of any good-sized backyard without bothering the neighbors. A brilliant idea.
