RNAS Yeovilton Air Day 2007 - Helicopters

Postby cspyro21 » Sun Jul 08, 2007 1:42 pm

Here are the shots I got of the eggbeaters on display:

Image
The Chinook coming out of a dive - for such a large helicopter the display was amazing, the pilots really threw it around up there!

Image
Here it is again going into a dive - the pilot would climb nearly vertically, push the Chinook over the top and dive down.

Image
The Blakc Cats Lynx's hovering - shortly after this they each turned inwards and performed the cross which you see in almost every picture that's taken of them ;D

Image
Here's the Lynx again making a sharp turn.

Image
This was an interesting couple - a Merlin and a Westland Wasp! They flew in together (as above) then performed a solo routine.

Image
Here's the Merlin performing - again for such a large aircraft the pilots certainly know how to fly them!

Image
The Merlin again, this time hovering.

Image
The Merlin, only this time quite high.

Image
And here's the Westland Wasp. Odd looking thing and a very interesting display. The pilot managed to fly the thing forwards, backwards, sideways - he did all sorts with it. A good display from that one!

Next up - the jets!

The Merlin is one ferocious beast! I've seen it's capabilities in a docu a while ago...

Were those Lynx's Dutch? I saw a couple of them comming over on friday in Belgium, heading West...

No, they're the Royal Navy's Black Cats display team.
