So its basically a British JSTARS by the sound of it?

Basically yes, although in a smaller airframe full of Army/Navy/RAF types (flown by the RAF though!), which has led to weight problems. Rumour has it they even wanted a stable on board for the Officers' horses... ;D It's been happily mincing around Lincolnshire recently though... :) Looks nice, and should be a decent bit of kit when it goes somewhere useful/sandy.

That's actually a Global Express, not a Gulfstream

It's neither, it's a Sentinel R1.

Pedant! ;D (Raytheon Sentinel R Mk.1...) ;) :D

On a personal note, I was lucky enough to see them foriming up in Lincolnshire airspace... :)

Based on the Global Express built by Bombardier in Canada.
