Spotting at Sky Manor this afternoon

Postby flyboy 28 » Sat Apr 14, 2007 4:27 pm

Headed over to Sky Manor after I finished my work in the backyard. Spotting is always a great treat after doing that sort of work. :) There was a lot of activity on the UNICOM frequency earlier in the day between Alexandria and Sky Manor, when it was a bit warmer and still sunny. There's a cold front moving in and it got a bit windy so traffic died down before I got there. There were still some interesting visitors.

First up is this Cherokee. The taxiway on to runway two-five is indeed angled. I didn't sneeze when I took the picture. :)

First time seeing this one here. A very sleek Lancair Columbia.

Interesting little RV-6. I saw him zoom over my house. Fast little bugger.

I took a quick video of this Cherokee landing. He floated a little bit on the flare and touched down smoothly. The link will be up soon. Here's a pic of him taxiing.

Then I went into the restaurant and got a grilled cheese sandwich. Felt very good on my empty tummy. :)

When I came back out, I missed this 152 landing because I was walking back to my car to get my scanner and camera. It looks very sharp though with the fresh paint and wheel pants.

Next up is some leftovers.

You know, I was thinking that myself. I wasn't sure, so I just kept my mouth shut. ;D

If you get the aircraft coming in like MG salvos, maybe. But just sitting there and waiting your butt off for an airplane to come in is just not my definition of "treat".
Of course, I'm only speaking from personal experience.

Anyways, really nice photos with a nice quality.

Negative- that was an RV-4. Also done up in USAF colors, but no invasion stripes. The -6 is a slightly larger, side-by-side version of the RV-4. Also very fast. ;D
