KEWR-KTPF: No window seat!!

Postby beaky » Mon Mar 26, 2007 6:15 am

The horror... the horror... I couldn't get a window seat for my flight yesterday (Jet Blue A320), but I did snag a few piccies... shot by leaning over from the middle seat and trying to eyeball the LCD...

When the young lady in the window seat suddenly got up to go to the lav (she told me later she was "nervous"- I think she might have barfed), I took this one... didn't realize 'til later that I'd caught an airport (barely). I think we were over the Carolinas or thereabouts.

Wind was out of the NE (very brisk tailwind!), so we flew right over MacDill on approach to KTPF... she was kind enough to let me reach across to snap these:

This time I'm going to really try to get some pics of the B29 and F4 that are on static display by the  east gate while I'm working there... watch this space.

As for the Tampa AirFest, I heard last night that because the base CO wants this stuff done by Monday, we may have to work thru the weekend. But I'll be at the base... so who knows? Might still get a few pics, although I can't enter the CentCom compound with a camera.

Um, yeah, sure....

"Uh, excuse me purdy laydee, can I just lean across you and rest in your lap while I take some pictures?"

;D

Thanks Sean, one to note down for the future  ;)

The pictures are worth it just for the story that goes with them. Besides, who does she think she was, nervous of flying and taking up valuable window space!  ::) Some people eh?

Good luck with the AirFest pics, fingers crossed

LOL, she was very nice and attractive enough but definitley young enough that any real advances would have been pretty creepy. Besides, nervous fliers turn me off.
She was a good sport, though... didn't freak out too much, and actually gazed out the window quite a bit once we leveled off.
I overheard her mention to someone on her cell after we landed that she'd taken some kind of pills to calm her down... ;D

Re: AirFest: I spoke to our VIS liaison Sgt. today about that, and he didn't think we'd be able to work in CentCom during the show weekend... oh, dear, what a shame... ;)

Got my fingers crossed... we'll be doing 11-hr days starting tomorrow, so we should have the room in good shape by then. I'm pretty hopeful.

Great shots, Sean!! :)

Maybe since you are working on the airbase you can get the VIS liaison Sgt. to get you a prime location on the flightline!! ;)

I doubt it... he's got no "pull" to speak of... besides, he's Army. ;)
The only advantage I might have is that I can use my pass to enter at a different gate earlier in the day... but I'll have a long walk from my usual parking area to the flight line...
