The ladder in the first one looks seriously out of place. Looks nice anyhow!!

My parents filmed the changing of the guard while they were in Greece... somehow it allways reminds me of Monty Pythons ministery of silly walks...  ;D All these ceremonial guards are just tourist attractions... The real hardcore guards are nearby, only you won't see them until you do something silly, as breaking into Buckinham palace...

I suspect the ceremonial guards are all fully trained regular soldiers just like the Buckingham Palace guards. Those rifles might not be loaded but the bayonets are real enough.

True. And there's also the ever-present threat of: "Halt! Or I'll buffet you about the shins with my pom-poms!!"

Let's face it- their adversary would die laughing. :D

One of the guards in the more normal green uniforms told us, that we was allowed to only take pictures with them, two at a time, and no funny faces or gimmicks..

I thought: "WTF?!? THEY are wearing silly clothing and walks funny, and they ask ME to behave normal??" ;D

I went to Greece back in March 2006 (went to Athens, around the Peleponnese, and up to Meteora and back to Athens).  The country is just gorgeous, Athens is amazing, and well, I wish we had Gyro stands everywhere in America!

Lovely pics Theis!  ;D
