Chicago, again... again.

Off to the chilly Chicagoland area again today; almost missed my flight 'cuz I overslept.

Got a fairly cheap telephoto/wide angle/filter set for the ol' Kodak; here are some first shots with that stuff.
The lenses are pretty sad, but the UV filter rocks.
Check it out:

Flying American this time; this is not my ride... I'm in a Super 80.

No way could I have shot right into the sun before I got the filter... this is gonna be fun! ;D

Proof positive that this is not just any airport: a little sense of place, as it were... ;)

It's like having a different camera... amazing.

Ooookayyy... this seat is not gonna work. Hmmm... the next window seat forward is unoccupied...

Better... but are we ever gonna get out of here?!

Next: the usual boring in-flight  shots

Nice sun...when we were going back to midway to leave on Sunday we went down a horribly planned road.  It took us DIRECTLY into the setting sun.  It was beautiful, but you couldn't see a darn thing!

Great shots, Sean!! :)

Chicago agian!!!!  Bet you can't wait to go down to Tampa!!! ;)

Where did you pick up the filters and lens at? I would like to get some filters.
Is the telephoto lens worth it?

 Have a nice trip!! :)

Found them on eBay... not an auction; kind of a clearinghouse thing:

The optics are not great, but the housings, adaptors, etc are nice... cool little tripod, too. Haven't tried the polarizing filter yet, but the UV one is good enough.

The problem with the cheap optics is that there is distortion: quite a bit of chromatic distortion with the tele, especially ("rainbow" effect). It's only a 2X, also, but they make stronger ones. The wide-angle is better- pretty good for macro shots, and the edge-blurring from shooting farther away is easy enough to deal with by framing with cropping in mind... but I still really want a fisheye lens for stuff like cockpit shots, because this wide angle is not really wide enough for that.

At any rate, I'd say I got my money's worth; no surprises... and I've only just started experimenting with them.
