Mooning...

Postby Omag 2.0 » Sun Jan 21, 2007 2:11 pm

Yep, but not the way you were thinking...  :P  ;D

I noticed a particular small moon tonight, in a blueisch evening sky. So i took out the tripod and experimented with shuttertime...

The result...

View from my roof, this evening's clear wintersky...

Image

Close up on mr. Moon... I like how it shows the entire sphere, hidden by the bright moonlight...

Great pictures.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif] We had that type of moon last night here too. I love it when you can see all of it like that.  :)

It happens pretty much every month  ::) ... and it's beautiful.
You can see the shaded part  so well because of light reflecting off the Earth (particularly oceans, hence the bluish tint, which is not so well-represented here).
Nice shots! :)

The crescent phase, BTW, is the best time to view the Moon with binocs or telescope, because the terrain is casting long shadows, and the overall glare is diminished.

You know? It's actually very hard to catch what you see, especially in darker light conditions. I just played with the shuttertime, to get a nice view on the non-lit side of the moon...
