[quote][quote]You're ALL deluded!!! Except for Ozzy. I think we know who the REAL winner is in the "beautiful ships" department. The Soviet Victor III class submarine... Ooooh... It looks like a 747 crossed with a sub...

Sounds like a good duty if they stay out of the Persian Gulf.... :-/

He's been deployed to the Persian Gulf 3 times already aboard the USS Wasp LHD-1. It's an amphibious assault ship that carries US Marines. But it wouldn't surprise me to see this ship end up in Persian Gulf anyway. He is in charge of the radar repair section of the ship. He's been in the Navy for 10 years now.

He did say that any aircraft getting with in 150 miles of this ship with a hostile IFF code will be shot down. He also said when he hears the Phalanx CIWS power up, thats when he starts to worry. Because it means the target has hit 15 miles and is still inbound. If he hears the Phalanx CIWS start firing, the target is at 5 miles or less. As he puts it, this is when you start looking for a fast exit location....lol.

Shkval on truck = bye bye cruiser

And we had a british carrier in Amsterdam a year ago... with harriers on the deck

Didn't they have "only" 1A5s?

The only good argument for an Abrams is its german 120mm cannon. ;P

Yes Invincible and Hermes are/were British ships. Hermes however was scrapped immediately after the Falklands war (she was actually rescued from the breakers yard when the Argentines invaded). Hermes was an older and larger ship. I knew what you were on about. I just didn't quite grasp the point. ;)
