I need a little advice...

I bought a HP 945 digital camera recently on ebay, Works a charm, 8X Optical zoom is pretty good for the price I payed, 5.3MP isn't half bad either, just sometimes I get a lot of noise in my shots but I don't mind it. My camera has the ability to stick an adapter tube on it, filters, and lenses, My question, would this be worth it? I could buy a 3X Telephoto lens, .45X (wide angle lens) and 3 filters, UV, Polarizer, and Difuser with a cleaning kit for about 150 on ebay.... (With the adapter tube and lens hood) Personally I think it would make the camera even better.... Your thoughts?

EDIT: Can you take a digital camera out in rain? I'd think not because water vs electronics usually means fried.... But I'd love to go outside and take some pictures..... But its pouring out!

I can't advice on the add-ons, but I would start by checking out the possibilities of your standard camera... Learn to know it, before you take it a step further...

About the noise... Neat image is your friend...  ;)

Thanks for the reply... The noise was my Digital flash being set too high, go figure.... I'd love to learn my cameras functions (Figured it out with no manuals etc, manual is in french only. But thanks for the link, I'll use it. Camera is good by itself, quite a simple 'point and shoot' Though for the zooms I'll need for boat spotting or even the ocassional plane spotting might turn the 8X optical to nothing here is the kit in question I'll wait for this rain to stop and go run around the area and take some shots and post them here and see what you guys think...

Explination  ;D  I did something similar myself. Bought a pretty nice P&S and realised I could add screw on lenses. Paid $50 for a set of 2 lenses, some filters,  and the same little tripod and cleaning kit your looking at. The Filters and little tripod were nice, so was the cleaning kit. The lenses were crap. They blured around the edges and caused a red double image around the edges. Wasnt worth the money. Im guessing that camera, even though they say it can, shouldnt use screw on lenses. Filters, shure there nice but lenses are often quite bad,  I may be wrong as those lenses do look better than mine but be cautious. If you can try to find some that you can try out first.  ;D  Good Luck!

Edit: Took a close look at that add, they dont even tell you who makes the lenses so you cant even check the actual company to see products. You have to "trust" this online store.   oh and that pic showing the 3x zoom is B***S*** (IMHO) If you want changeable lenses, go with a better camera thats built for excangeable lenses.  ;D

Thats what I was thinking, I might buy a cheaper version and see what it does. I wouldnt be much at a loss, payed cheap for the camera anyways.... Filters, needed, lenses, I'll try and see I guess..... Thanks for the heads up though!

If the lenses are made for the camera then there's no reason why they should screw up your pictures. But remember this, if you add the wide angle lense to it then it will screw up the picture if you try and zoom. If you add a zoom lens to it then I wouldn't be suprised if you had negative results while it's zoomed right out.

I have a wide angle attachment for my S5500 (ironically enough for boats) and if you zoom in with that attached then you get a lot of blurring and distortion around the edges. Zoomed out though and it's clear as a bell.

Maybe BAW's problem was that the lenses were dirt cheap. I paid

Aren't wide lenses supposed to be used in Macro focus and then zoomed? Just a thought...

They probably can be. But I use mine to cram that little extra bit of scene that would be lost out of frame without it.

looks pretty good too me, In fact makes me want one even more! I'm pretty sure problems people have is lack of focus (Sometimes changing focus modes help) I did a fair amount of testing and such to see what my camera can do, and research and found out this can be a common problem etc.
